"My experience at the Royal Hallamshire"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I was sent a leaflet through my GP and wanted to give some feedback about my hospital care.

I have just spent several weeks on three wards at the Hallamshire Hospital in J2, G2, and Q2. On the whole I was really satisfied with my care. I felt like I could ask the consultant anything and he would tell me anything I wanted to know. I remember in years gone by you would be frightened to open your mouth to consultants. Particularly on the first two wards the nursing care was good. I did feel that on Q2, the way they dealt with handing out medication was a bit lax. I did nursing for a spell when younger and I remember it was always two people to the drug trolley but on this ward the trolley was left unsupervised on one occasion (from what I could see) when nurses were called away. Also they seemed to do the change over to night staff differently on different wards but sometimes they would not give out medication until quite late. When you are ill you want to get off to sleep and one time it was nearly 12 at night.

I also wanted to say that the food was good always hot and a good choice. I also felt the cleanliness overall was good.
