I joined my Mum at Pembury A&E after she collapsed after dinner recently (arr A&E c.23.00 23.1.15). Despite lying her down she kept passing out so we called an ambulance and it arrived quickly. They monitored her heart in the ambulance and we arrived at A&E 15 mins later. Another heart monitor was done in hospital with no wait at all. The doctor then arrived shortly afterwards, introduced himself, explained the tests (ECG, blood, x-ray) they would run and how long they would take. Not only did the test runs to schedule, but the doctor or a nurse returned to us in between them with latest news/time estimates so we felt well informed. The blood test was done immediately so the results could be back and analysed while we waited for the other tests. This is often the most frustrating part of a hospital visit so to be aware of patient's needs in this way is exemplary. The doctor was quick and efficient with his analysis of the tests, and explained them well. We felt in safe hands. Thankfully we were able to go home that evening, after not a huge amount, and very little waiting. We had a very positive experience at Pembury and would like to thank all the staff involved.
