"Not informed of the addicitve nature of diazepam"

About: Guernsey House / Primary care addiction service Sheffield (PCASS)

(as the patient),

I went through a detox arranged by Guernsey House which took place at the Burbage Ward. The detox was fine but at this time I was prescribed methadone and diazepam. My goal was abstinence from all drugs as I was detoxed for methadone but maintained on diazepam. I had no idea that post detox I would not just be able to stop taking them. I was shocked to learn that I had withdrawals after stopping diazepam which was severe. I found this very confusing as I had done a detox and exactly the same. Dealing with this led me back into drug use as I could nto understand why I had dome the detox only to have to do another one. This was really de-motivating when prescribed diazepam I had no information on its addictive nature. I would not of had them if I had known.
