"Deep concern for my son's wellbeing"

About: NHS Fife

(as a parent/guardian),

My son had been receiving help with drug abuse from fife addiction services for over 15 years, has been cut off from treatment by reduction over a very short period of a few weeks, and left with no help from his GP or any other help source. He now is back buying drugs of the street, he has very limited funds so cant buy the amount he needs to relieve his pain, and if thats not bad enough I have just now heard from a reliable source he has talking about taking his life as he cant stand the pain from the withdrawals,

As parent I am deeply concerned for his wellbeing and totally disgusted at the way addiction services has behaved in this matter.

My question is HELP.

Dear TOM3

I have just received a call from the General Manager who has overall responsibility for this service. She was deeply concerned to read your post and has asked me to urge you to make contact to discuss the concerns you have about your son. This is an awful situation for you and the Manager is keen that you have an opportunity to speak to some one directly about your concerns.

Please consider giving me a call so I can direct your call to the appropriate person or consider contacting NHS 24 for further advice in this difficult situation.

Regards

Louise Ewing

She is keen to speak to you directly to discuss your concerns and happy to meet with you if that would be helpful.

Dear TOM3

Sorry to hear that - the phone lines have been busy today so I am not sure if that has been the problem. The number given is the direct office number. Can you please try again or alternatively try 01592 648153 and ask for me. The other option is to drop me an email with your number and I will give you a call as soon as I get it. Here is my email address - louise.ewing@nhs.net

Hope to speak very soon

Louise

Dear Tom3

Thank you for getting in touch and for subsequently speaking to Sally. I really hope that things improve for your son.

You know where I am if there is anything else I can do to help.

Kind regards from Louise as a mum, rather than as a hospital manager.
