I badly broke my leg when I slipped on the stairs in Sept 2014. I ended up being admitted to the Major Trauma Ward in LGI where I had an ex-fix fitted to my leg, I was in there for 5 days before going home for a few days to allow the swelling to go down.
I was then re-admitted to have an ilizarov frame fitted to my leg. Three days later I was sent home for good and have spent the 4 and a half months since having outpatient appointments with Orthopaedics at LGI and physio at St James's.
Last week I finally had the frame removed and am now getting back to normal.
I have nothing but praise but everyone I had dealings with - from the paramedics and team in A&E, to the ward staff when I was admitted, my consultant and the team in the Orthopaedics dept and the physio teams at both LGI & St James's. Without exception I have been treated with care, consideration, good humour and professionalism.
Thank you for making what could have been a truly horrific experience bearable.
