I was a patient at Nottingham City Hospital last month due to very high blood pressure and overall the care was good. However, after taking ill at the doctors surgery an ambulance was called and after waiting three and a half hours for an ambulance at the surgery it was ready to shut. Two nurses (in their own car) took me to hospital by which time I felt really ill, but as I say the care was really good. I did grumble to the sister that I didn’t like being in a 6 bedded ward with 5 men! But after two days it altered a lady was admitted. The only complaint was that I was wakened at 2.30am during the night to tell the history of all my life illnesses to a doctor.
The food was tolerable and plenty of drinks were offered. There was no help to get home and as I went into hospital as an emergency, it was a good job I had enough money to pay for a taxi having no relations to collect me although the nurse did ask if I had the fare.
"I was woken up a 2.30am!"
