"We ended up going to Preston for the birth of our..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital

We ended up going to Preston for the birth of our baby boy after my waters broke and we were unable to go to chorley as I had to be induced. Although we were a while waiting to get up to delivery suite, the care both pre, during and post was absolutely amazing. Once in the delivery suite we had our own midwives who were there for the duration they were amazing, so calm, friendly and encouraging. Unfortunately I wasn't dilating, so I saw the doctor a few times who gave me all my options and stood back letting us make our own decisions (baby was in no distress). Eventually we opted for a c section as we were going nowhere and everything was arranged promptly. The whole theatre team and our midwife made even this delivery special. We cannot thank them enough. The post delivery ward was equally good. The midwives here were firm - but brilliant. Who wants to get up for a shower after an op! But they do it so matter of fact that it makes it easy and I'm so grateful for the care they gave us over the next 24 hours. I will look back on the birth of my so with very fond memories even though nothing went to plan!! Thank you Preston!

Thank you for taking the time to tell us of your experience. I'm sorry to hear that your birth plans had to be changed, but pleased to hear that you had such a positive experience despite that. Please be assured that your kind comments have been fed back to staff in the Maternity Unit.
