"visit to A and E with my husband who has dementia-..."

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

I followed my husband to a and e last week. He was admitted after possible stroke or TIA. He has dementia. The staff were attentive, kind , caring , made every effort to involve us both in progress and decisions to take various tests. Brought us a cup of tea each, Extremely thorough. Lots of different investigations carried out during c 7-hour stay - ECG, blood tests, chest x ray, monitoring. Asked my husband if he would like supper and gave him choice - even asked me if I would like something. Very concerned that I would look after myself as a carer, T|he department was very busy and some staff were at the end of very long shifts but they were tremendous. I have never had such a positive experience at this hospital over 30 years. Well done all the staff.
