"Excellent, high quality care"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

I cannot recommend the hospital, its staff and the facilities highly enough. The quality of service that I and my husband received from staff at QEQM prior to the delivery of our baby was exceptional. We were both made to feel welcome, comfortable and relaxed before my planned c-section was performed. Staff members introduced themselves and explained their roles clearly, going 'above and beyond' to ensure our questions were answered immediately and treatment was delivered efficiently. The surgical team should be commended for their individual and collective roles in ensuring the safe arrival of our son, the compassionate care for myself as the patient and the support provided to my husband throughout the procedure. The service we received on the day was friendly, efficient and professional. Our expectations were set and managed through sharing of easily-digestable information at each stage of the process, ensuring we understood what was happening at each point during the patient journey. As a patient I felt informed, supported and listened to. Following the Caesarean section, every member of staff we encountered on Kingsgate Ward - without exception - delivered extremely high quality care to myself and my family. I felt that my voice as a patient was sought, heard and acted upon, resulting in what felt like a very patient-centred experience. Whether a staff member was helping me to mobilise, answer a query or provide medication, the service was delivered promptly day and night with both professionalism and compassion at each and every interaction. Facilities were consistently clean, well-prepared and fit for purpose at every stage, whether the pre-operative space, theatre, recovery room and Kingsgate Ward bays and washroom facilities. I would absolutely recommend the maternity service at QEQM to friends and family.
