""DIY/ISC Plumbing""

About: Leicester General Hospital / Urology Leicester Royal Infirmary / Urology

(as the patient),

Some time ago it was discovered that, due to chronic retention, my bladder has lost its elasticity and, unlike most, I can no longer "spend a penny" as others do. Because of this I use Intermittent Self-Catheterisation" several times a day. It is thanks in particular to Nurse Butcher that I accepted this procedure. Whilst I would much prefer live life normally, I have grown accustomed to using my "Home Plumbing Kit". Though not a usual topic of conversation, I have no problem explaining to friends about the technique. However, it is comforting sometimes to find a fellow user and compare notes since it is not without its difficulties.
