"outstanding and professional"

About: Colchester General Hospital

my son was admitted for observation on sat 17th jan 15 with symptoms which may be appendicitis but not necessarily. The surgical consult had a look at him and decided that he would listen to me as a mother knowing her child, rather than to his own clinical evaluations. Despite the chances of it being appendicitis being very low, the surgeon ordered blood tests to check for infection. These tests saved my sons life- less than 2 hours later he was undergoing emergency surgery on an appendix which had already ruptured.

Many thanks for your comments and taking the time to submit them. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. We have a quarterly At Our Best Awards scheme which recognises staff achievements and thanks them for what they do. It has a team category, an individual and a volunteer category. You could enter the team/the person you were kind enough to write in about, by clicking here! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/At_Our_Best_Awards Also, could you email me, using the reference “+ve Comment on Children's & Adolescent Services at 18/01/2015 20:57:18”, please so we can pass on your good wishes? Many thanks Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
