I had the misfortune to need help at 10.30 pm on Boxing day with a severe chest infection and difficulty breathing and was attended by a Paramedic then transported by ambulance to the A & E department of the RUH in Bath. Despite what the media would have you believe I did not experience the out of control chaos portrayed. I was received at A & E and swiftly found myself under the expert supervision of the high care section. I happen to think the magical figure of 80% seen in the required time is pretty good but even that does not reflect the actual speed in which many are handled. I also wonder how many of the so called 20% perhaps should not be there. I am not sure if the media is actually complaining about the service provide by the NHS or snapping at the heels of the government over funding which seems to be a National sport at election times!! I do accept however that on occasions things go horribly wrong and these cases get well reported but I can only speak from my own experience which was absolutely superb - Well done A & E Staff and many thanks.
