My experience was absolutely horrible. They first closed the ward and sent me to Basingkstoke (where I stayed for 24 hours and they were wonderful!). They said that in that period of the year it is always like that. :s The midwife that took care of me during the day was horrible (did not come for 40 minutes when I called screaming in horrible pain, because "she had to write something" even if she had to constantly monitor me because I had epidural and drip) and incompetent (she did not let me move even on my side for more than 12 hours saying that with epidural I could not do it..and did not call the doctor to top up epidural for hours... completely opposite opinion from night midwife). My room was extremely small and overlooked. The anesthesiologist commented they were not even supposed to have epidural in such small spaces. Postnatal was the worse. No one was in charge of me and each midwife/lactation consultant gave me a different opinion about feeding the baby. The room with 5 people was always hot, noisy and crowded. I ended up with bottle feeding and leaving the hospital signing off. I am so scared of the whole experience that I am not planning for the second anymore..
