"unprofessional children's nurses"

About: Newham General Hospital

I brought my 12 year old son to the children's A&E department via ambulance as my child was having an asthmatic attack. The ambulance crew were absolutely amazing and when they assessed my son they had said that they will bring my child straight to the resuscitation room so he can be seen straight away. When we got there, there were 2 nurses and a doctor. The doctor could see that my son needed immediate treatment due to his breathing, but the 2 nurses said that he should not be in resus as he looked fine. As a mother, who does not have an medical background, I knew that my son did not look fine. The doctor was saying that he did need to be in resus, but the nurses just brought my son round to another area of the A&E department and asked him to wait in the waiting area. The doctor wanted to give my son some medicine while we were waiting, but the nurses made sure that the medicine was not written up by the doctor. The doctor wrote up the medicine any way and said that he would get the medicine himself and give the medicine himself. He was doing everything to make sure that my son was be seen straight away, and said that he would contact the paediatricans. Within minutes, my son was seen by the paediatricians and given medicine and made sure that my son was admitted to the ward. The 2 nurses were huffing and puffing that the doctors were not only doing their jobs but doing the nurses' jobs aswell. The paediatricians had said that if my son was left in the waiting room, he would have gotten very ill and may not have come out of it in the best way. The 2 nurses' were so rude that I could here them say how my son didn't need that much treatment and that he would have been fine and go home. When they brought my son to Rainbow ward, one of them had said to me that the only reason why he got worse was because of the doctor and that he was making something out of nothing a big deal. This was a rude comment about the doctor who did everything to make sure that my child got the best care in the hospital. When they were explaining everything to the nurse on the ward, they were saying how rude i was towards them and that I was swearing at them which was untrue. The nurse on the ward knew this was untrue and had to apologise for them. The nurse that was looking after my son was amazing and always checked up on us.The doctors on A&E and the nurses on the ward were fantastic, but the 2 nurses in A&E were so rude and had no manners or sympathy. They need to be trained again, or someone should have a stern word with them. This hospital needs to sort out the behaviour of the staff that they employ. Disgusting behaviour.
