"Wrist fracture Boxing Day 2014"

About: West Middlesex University Hospital

I broke my wrist while attempting to ice skate at Hampton Court. My husband drove me to the hospital. I do not remember how long I had to wait to see the receptionist. Looking back it did not seem that long. From the receptionist to the nurse was quite quick. I was very grateful to receive painkillers at this point. I waited an hour or so to be assessed in the virtual fracture clinic. My wrist was x-rayed and my arm put in a plaster cast. At all times I was treated with courtesy and respect by everyone . I was told to expect a call to return to the hospital for an operation. It was reassuring to be given a "window" for the call between 11am and 3pm. The call came at the appointed time and saw I think a consultant surgeon on 30th December. I was passed on to a surgeon who was very efficient, courteous and reassuring. My wrist was straightened and pinned on Saturday 3rd. Thanks to all the staff at West Mid and particularly to the surgeon and a particular nurse Best Regards, Jeannie Taylor
