I had to recently have an early smear test, I'm 23 due to abnormal bleeding. The smear came back abnormal so I was booked it at st. helier gynaecologist department for a colposcopy. I was incredibly nervous, especially after the doctor told me he was going to take a biopsy from my cervix. However, the doctor and the nurse were so fabulous! I even found myself laughing with them whilst being looked at because I didn't have anything to worry about. The gynaecologist made appropriate general chat which put me at ease. The nurse was so brilliant and even held my hand I truly found her amazing and very experienced. She is a true credit to the nhs, I wish I had remembered her name. The biopsy was not painful at all, I did feel a little sick after and have had period like pains, but have been assured this is normal. Great experience overall considering the situation. If you have a colposcopy here, I have every faith you will be well looked after. Thanks
"Very lovely staff, calmed my nerves!"
