"Non GP referral, attend AE"

Assessed by Triage within minutes of a the person sitting right next to me. this happened Shortly after arriving and registering at the Hospital. Coincidently, both had same condition, Knee symtoms. In-depth discussion with her, identical symptoms. No apparent cause of injury, woke up in pain, swelling etc. me after long walk, her, after jogging. Age difference, 40 years. Coincidently, turns out that we both arrived at Hospital within one minute of each other, car park ticket confirms. She was in pain, I was in acute pain, both limping. she had been to GP, I had not, my GP was 60plus miles away. Very few people in AE, she goes through, comes out having had xray. she goes in again, comes out, going home, said, xray clear, told to see how it goes in next two weeks. Her total visit, just over 90 mins. I wait a further 60mins, go in, seen by nurse Doc for 5 mins, arthritis mentioned by Doc, as a possible cause, told to continue taking anti inflam pills given leaflet on Physio exercises,if systems continue, see my GP. Got the impression that they would have preferred me to see my GP in the first place. I immediately pay GBP300 for a MRI knee scan, as pain remains acute, Senior privately consulted Radiologist , who also works for NHS,report states, Significant injury, advises tears in two separate areas of Knee, plus other associated, problems. All concluded from MRI Images. Attend local GP, he referred me to Conquest,, Conquest have MRI report, appointment made by Hospital for one Month ahead. If I have to now wait four weeks with a significant untreated injury, I am wondering how long people have to wait for an appointment for non significant injury's. Points> 1. Assessment of injury in order to determine position in queue to see Doctor in AE. I was put to the back of the queue, including new arrivals, who were few in number. 2. Diagnosis 3. Available appointments for significant injury. 4. I guess the hospital would have eventually been forced to conduct an MRI scan on me, this may have taken a number of Months. So, it cost me 300.00 to. get an appointment. eg> produce evidence of injury. b. to reduce the time to be seen to one Month, that though, seems a long time, even though its a significant injury. I have to assume that there must be several hundred people with higher grade significant injuries ahead of me. The above are the simple facts, I need no response from the hospital or connected hospital groups.
