I was admitted to Labor Ward last year, mid may. It wasn't a happy day for us as our baby boy had been diagnosed with Triploidy, so I was admitted for pregnancy termination. It was even more devastating for me as my previous pregnancy did not go well either. I must say, me, my partner and my close friend were extremely well looked after during that time. I was given a separate room and staff were very accommodating to my needs throughout. They also looked after my family, which was amazing to know that support was there for them as well, especially for my partner, who was in a lot of distress at that time. As for me personally, I can't imagine better care provision, in such moment, than what I've experienced. I felt like there were 10 staff members looking after me, even when there weren't. Whenever I needed something, someone was there. They gave me a lot of respect and looked after me with dignity and compassion. Midwives and doctors gave me clear view of my choices and they respected my wishes. It was really reassuring to be looked after that way. I wanted to give a special recognition and say thank you to the midwife who worked that night and led my care. She has not only supervised me or assisted me, she stayed with me for all that time and made sure I was all right. There were no medication they could have given me to stop the pain I was feeling. This midwife, however, kind of "tuned in" with me, she literally made pains go away by simply touching my arm or chatting with me. She also helped me to deal with the emotional pain and side of it all. She was very considerate and compassionate, till the very moment I was ready to leave the ward. Up to this day, me and my family, are truly amazed by how nice and caring this midwide was. When I look back, despite the fact it was the most horrific time of my life, I could not have wished for a better hospital-stay experience. Thank you all.
"Staff are amazing"
