"Vascular Clinic"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

At my last visit (December 2014) I was told that my review date had changed from the current 12 months to 3 months, the presumption being that a significant change had taken place in my aneurism. Insufficient detail was provided despite a request to do so. At my latest visit I was retained on the 3 month return but an explanation was provided as to why, in that National Standards had changed & that in December given the change that had taken place I would normally have been put on 6 months not 3, but that 6 moth visits are no longer part of the scheme. I was also informed about the options re potential surgery in that if straightforward (leg entry) could be performed locally at Blackburn. If complex (entry via stomach) need to move to one of Manchester or Walton to receive treatment. This information was much more adequate and i was very pleased as it put my mind at rest which was not the case on the last visit to the clinic where questions were left in the air leading to unrest in my mind. it took me about 1 week to return to normal!!!

Dear Anonymous Many thanks for your feedback on your experience of our Vascular service based at Royal Blackburn Hospital, and thank-you for taking the time to do so. I will make sure your comments about the information given, the explanation on both visits and the impact of these are passed onto the team. I am very pleased to hear that your recent experience with us was really positive as we always strive to deliver safe, personal & effective care; however I can completely understand how your previous visit to the vascular clinic created unnecessary concern for you and can only apologise that it did so. If you would like to talk through your recent visits to us with one of our Patient Experience team so we can understand the bits of your experience that made the difference we would really value this so that we can try to make it like this for every patient visiting our hospitals and services. You can either contact me (Wendy Stobbs) on 01254 734471/ 01254 733704 or email me on wendy.stobbs@elht.nhs.uk. Or if you would like to share your experience in confidence with an independent organisation please contact Healthwatch BwD on 01254 504985 or info@healthwatchblackburnwithdarwen.co.uk Many thanks again for taking the time to comment Wendy Stobbs, Senior Patient Experience Facilitator
