"Maternity Ward"

About: Lister Hospital

I never got round to thanking the staff. I had a cescarean on 27th May 2014, my baby was born at 8am. The team which took me into surgery were brilliant. They done such a good job and made me feel safe. Especially the anesthetist, he was such a lovely man and very efficient. The surgery was perfect. I recovered quickly and have not had any complications post surgery. My scar is so neat. Couldn't be happier. Thank you very much. Please pass on this message to the team who were on duty that morning. Sadly, the after care on the maternity ward was not so good. I didn't get much help and was pretty much left to get on with things myself. All the mums were complaining as they had the same problem too. Think there needs to be a review with the midwives on the wards on how to deal with the aftercare certainly with patients who have had cescareans, we need more help than they are prepared to give! The midwife on the other hand was lovely. However some of the others were quite rude and not very helpful and often made me feel worse when I should have felt safe and relaxed. Women who have had babies are highly emotional anyway and a few of the midwives reduced me to tears as they were so nasty. My friend even heard them gossiping about us at the nurses station late at night. Less time gossiping and more time helping patients maybe!!!

Thanks for getting in touch and we will certainly pass on your praise to the birthing team - we sure that they will be delighted to read your kind words. With regards to your experience of the ward, would you be willing to contact us at generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net so that we can put you in touch with our senior midwifery team as we're sure they will be interested to hear about that aspect of the care you received from their colleagues? We hope that you give us that chance.
