Dad was taken ill in October & the ambulance service came to collect him very promptly. They were efficient, polite, made us feel comfortable.dad was rushed to CUH A&E, they stayed with us until he was seen to, they explained to us what was going on. We had to wait until we could see dad in A&E, but he was in good hands, he saw 2 doctors & quite quickly. The nurses & assistants were so helpful & friendly, explaining to us what was going on. The doctors diagnosed quickly what was wrong with him & started treatment immediately. He was taken in by lunchtime & by dinner time he was in a ward. The ward nurse was very good with us. At 2300 that night, she called us to tell us he had been moved to HDU. Where he stayed for 3 weeks. Apart from 1 or 2 nurses , all the staff were fantastic, caring, respectful, hard working, rushed off their feet. The only downside we felt was that the doctors were not forthcoming enough with information, we only received information if we asked. After the 3 weeks, dad was moved to St helier because he needed specialist renal treatment. Dad has since been back for follow ups & check ups. We have nothing but praise for all the staff, the ambulance drivers, paramedics, A&E staff, HDU staff, AMU staff & anti-coagulant clinic staff. They work hard for their money & should be treated with respect & be appreciated more than they are.
