"Long waiting time for dermatology appointment"

About: NHS Grampian

(as the patient),

I am actually yet to see the Dermatology unit, it has been 18 weeks since I was referred. I haven't received any correspondence from the hospital or GP.

I have called the Dermatology unit and was told the waiting time is around 6-8 months. This is very alarming and disappointing. I was made aware by the Veterans agency that I may be entitled to NHS priority service as I'd served over 7 years in the British Army. I have chased this up with my GP so hopefully something happens soon. My last appointment in the south of England took 2 weeks. 18 Weeks is unacceptable.

On the NHS Grampian website it says "for routine appointments or hospital treatment, you should not have to wait longer than 18 weeks. "

If there is a long waiting list then why wasn't I informed? I feel you are not meeting targets.

Dear Gmac123456 and Linda (NHS Grampian)

I'm really sorry that we tagged this story to Salisbury District Hospital at first - obviously a bit of geographical confusion on our part. We had a call from Linda today to tell us that you'd been in touch and that it should have been tagged to NHS Grampian and we've done that now. Thank you both for letting us know. I will let them team here know about what's happened here: it will act as a reminder for us all to be more beady eyed!

Gmac123456, you will have been waiting for a response and it's our fault it's taken so long. I am sorry for the delay, confusion and any frustration this might have caused. Thanks for making the effort to get in touch and keep us right.

Good to hear that you have spoken with each other and look forward to reading the response.

Best wishes

Gina

Hi Gina

We have been in conversation with Gmac123456 and it has been a good learning experience for us. Thanks for sorting this out.

Dear Gmac123456

Many thanks to my colleague Jude for investigating this and hopefully a good outcome for you. It made us realise that not enough people know about the arrangements for veterans and this is a situation we will need to improve.

Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention and good luck with your appointment.

Please get in touch if there is anything else we can do.

Kind regards,
