"Ankle pain for the past 18 months"

About: NHS Highland Raigmore Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

Had a fall 18 months ago (July 2013), x-rayed in A&E advised that the Dr was pretty sure it was a bad sprain. Have had constant pain since and have had many appointments with different GPs in my practice, all advising sprains take time to heal and offering general pain relief.

I therefore referred myself for physiotherapy through occupational health service and the support I received from them was second to none, they even assisted with getting the right medication from my GP.

Eventually in October 2014 I was seen by a locum GP in my practice who sent me for an x-ray, with results showing evidence of an previous minor avulsion facture. On receiving results from GP (usual GP) they weren't concerned by this despite me being in constant pain!

On discussion with my physio, she referred me back to my GP, to be referred to Orthopaedic specialist. At this stage I had come as far as I would with physio support. GP eventually referred me in Dec 2014, following guidance from physiotherapy.

Unfortunately I have lost work time over this, most recently the past 5 weeks. I'm an active 32 year old, who is now popping numerous pain killers to try and get through each day, this whole situation is affecting my quality of life, and I am really worried what the future holds, as my GP has no idea how long I will be waiting for Orthopedic Appointment.

In the meantime I am costing the NHS money in more ways than one! !
