"King's Mill is outstanding!!! and that's a..."

This hospital sometimes gets a lot of negative publicity in the media and as a patient who attends quite regularly I'd have to say it's poppycock! As a patient maybe I'm not privvy to the financial management of the hospital or its leadership but I am privvy to what the experience is like with the front line staff. Every experience I have ever had at this hospital has been, without exception, outstanding. The maternity services are utterly exceptional. I couldn't have asked for better care if I'd have thrown £20,000 at a private clinic. A perfect, gentle, calming waterbirth where I felt supported and listened to at all times. Sadly, I also delivered my 24 week old little girl 'sleeping' at Kings Mill. The staff were utterly amazing and have left an imprint on my soul I will never forget. I've also visited clinic 7 many times and most recently, just yesterday. Efficient, friendly, professional yet very caring, I couldn't review highly enough. From initial call to the doctor's secretary to receiving a prescription was 48 hours, and actually seeing him was less than 7 days. The whole team in this clinic is a well oiled machine. During the 10 minutes I was in the waiting room a nurse went out of her way to escort an elderly lady downstairs to the main entrance and another nurse was supporting a gentleman in the far corner of the waiting room. Upon seeing my consultant I was greeted as usual with a great smile and discussions on family life. No sense of rushing and no sense of a stressed, overworked doctor - even though he had been on call until nearly midnight the previous day. The whole consultation, as it always is, was a 'discussion' about my health, a discussion and exploration of ways forwards medically and/or surgically. I've been to a few private clinics and consultations in the past and with the things that really matter, like how you're treated by the front line staff and their knowledge, expertise and compassion - well there really is little difference in my opinion! Yes you get free parking and perhaps a few more trees planted outside the hospital, but with the things that really matter, in my experience King's Mill is doing alright!!!!
