"broken ankle hospitalisation & aftercare"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

my daughter Hope Sharman broke her leg in Oct 2014 and is still being treated, on a journey to recovery that we hoped would have been shorter. From the minute the ambulance staff came to her aide, being on the ward to our visits at fracture clinic we have experienced swift care, genuine staff, been kept fully informed and consulted at all times. dignity is maintained and the staff have shown care, compassion and been very genuine. it is clear from observing staff and a busy hospital it is clear the NHS is stretched to capacity but staff never stop and cope with some challenging individuals that they shouldn't have to! but they do because they care. with an ageing population and with an huge increase on demand due to open access to the NHS and inappropriate visits to A & E its a shame staff aren't recognised for what they have to manage with rather than scrutiny on failures with targets that cant be met. so whilst we still haven't finished we can only thank the NHS for our professional polite and caring experience. a special thanks to the nurse in fracture clinic who had the job of applying plaster cast twice and a walking boot to a nervous young lady who was convinced he was going to break her leg again. such patience with a drop of humour. please feel free to share our feedback wherever necessary
