"They spoke down to me"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Diabetic medicine

(as the patient),

I have had diabetes but it was getting worse and I felt I might have a relapse. So I went into the Royal Hallamshire Hospital to be checked. There I found out that I was on the wrong medication. I felt that they treated me like an old person; even though I am 76 years old they spoke down to me and were quite rude. They told me that they did not want me getting up at night to go to the toilet because it would disturb the other patients. One night I was on my way to the toilet and I fell and they said I had slipped on my own urine which I had not. I felt so uncomfortable in the ward as I could not sleep or eat. The other patients also seemed upset at the way I was treated. The nurses were good who were usually employed but the agency nurses who were in different uniform were the ones who treated me like this. They gave me some different tablets and I have to go back for another appointment for a check up.
