"Lack of compassion In A and E at Liverpool"

I had the misfortune to have to take my young terminally ill sister-in-law to the Royal Liverpool A and E dept a while ago. She had terminal cancer and had fallen twice in 1 day and became confused and had a large gash on her head.

On arrival at the dept we were put in a cubicle and a Sister came and took details of my sister-in-law who was confused, and this obviously irritated the sister. I followed her outside to ask how long we would wait as my sister-in-law had 2 little girls at home very upset.

"Hours" was the answer, so I said myself and my brother would take her home, her reply "I've got people who have been here for hours" so I explained they were not my problem, my concern was for a young woman who was obviously dying and just needed checking over. Very irritated she walked away from me.

This sister then came back and said "I do have compassion". This was not evident. We saw a Dr after 2.5 hrs who said everything was ok and we could take her home. Another nurse brought in a wheelchair so we could get her out to the car, looked at her leg which she had scraped, it was full of blood and due to the steroids she was on skin was very thin and broken.

The whole experience was horrible and that wound on her leg never healed and she died a few weeks later. I appreciate nursing is a tough job but these 2 are in the wrong profession.
