Choosing Rotherham was probably a good decision as things turned out. The initial appointment for a pre surgery assessment was carried out by a very astute lady who quickly realised the pain I was in and called on the Consultant to check me over. The Staff were all professional, friendly and helpful who did everything they could to make me more comfortable. My first operation appointment was cancelled because the theatre ran out of time. I will admit to being annoyed at the time (who wouldn't be) but considering the pressures on the NHS a cancelled op isn't much to make a fuss about and the hospital did manage to fit me in again with only a short wait. The staff in green came to take me to the prep room, something I'd been dreading, unnecessarily as it turned out. They put me completely at ease in a spotless room and told me what was happening at every stage. I can't comment on the operating theatre being sound asleep at the time. Waking on the recovery ward, again spotlessly clean, the staff again friendly and helpful let me recover in my own time with a nice cup of tea and a sandwich. The discharge talk was informative and helpful before my Daughter drove me home. I followed the advice given by the discharge nurse to the letter and had no problems at all afterwards. The stitches came out after about two and a half weeks and everything was as the hospital staff said it would be. I would like to offer my very sincere thanks to the Surgeon and his theatre staff. Also to the pre-op staff and anyone else who was involved in my treatment at Rotherham Hospital. I don't have to walk with a stick anymore and I'm leading my normal life again, although I won't be lifting any heavy weights under strain again. Thank you all for your hard work and professional skill.
