Seen in A&E post second visit in 3 days. The wait was a little long at 7 Hours but the staff were working flat out and it was extremely busy.

Once seen by the Doctor started immediately on IV antibiotics, IV pain relief, IV anti-emetics and IV fluids. On post take ward round I was reviewed by consultant who referred me to the Community IV team.

This saved a bed space in hospital but allowed me to continue the treatment I needed. Excellent idea!

We pride ourselves in providing professional care to our patients so we are pleased you were so impressed with the care you received and so understanding about your waiting time. The department can get extremely busy which means, unfortunately, patients sometimes have to wait longer than we would like to be seen.

Our community IV service, or OPAT (Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy) service, was introduced in January 2012 and has been incredibly successful since its introduction. The service has now treated more than 700 patients in the community, and so we are very glad to hear that you have been able to benefit from this service.

Your lovely feedback will be passed on both to the teams involved in your care in hospital, and to the OPAT team who will be taking over your IV treatment now you have returned home.

I'd also like to add that Sarah, Kate and Dave In the IV clinic were all fantastic with not just me but with all patients.
