"a&E at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

I have had to visit A&E several times over the past few months because of severe chest pains and shortness of breath. Although sometimes the waiting times can be long. The longest I waited was just under four hours and the shortest was an hour and a half. I would like to thank the doctors and nurses, who I found to be very professional and good at their jobs. I was treated with respect and honesty. It must be an impossible job to do, with so many people to deal with and all the staff must be under so much pressure. It should not be this way. My only gripe is that the seats in the waiting room are not cushioned. Surely it wouldn't cost much to put some padding on them, especially when you have to wait for hours!

Thanks for taking the time to write this especially at a time when the department is under a lot of extra pressure over the winter.
