The hand unit staff are fantastic and cannot be faulted. However, they are overstretched. Having been told in A&E that I needed treated urgently and having anxiety disorder it was very stressful to have that "urgent" operation cancelled twice (after paying taxis to get me to hospital for 7am) and being sent home and ultimatley waiting over a week for surgery. However, the day surgery ward staff were fantastic and subsequent operations conducted in the unit I was treated by amazing nursing staff. The surgery was also done very well. Maybe would have been better to just tell me it wasn't urgent surgery and that way I wouldn't have panicked! Also, my physio and occupational therapist who treated me for over 5 months (for most of that time at least once a week) were phenominal and cannot be praised enough!
