I was referred immediately to A&E by my GP for an ECG and chest X-ray following severe breathing difficulties and irregular heart beat during the previous night. Upon arrival at A&E there were already 10 patients already in the waiting room. Within 10 to 15 minutes of registering at reception (11.30 am approx) I was taken through to cubicles and given an ecg. Whilth these nurse took full details of my symptoms and a doctor gave me a thorough check and began numerous tests. The department appeared fairly busy with all cubicles occupied , I was kept informed of all stages of treatment and care at all times by a staff who were not just professional , informative, Caring and friendly. Although the treatment and investigations took some 4 hours I eventually left the department in better shape and feeling very reassured and instead of being admitted to a ward as I feared I was talked through an excellent care plan and a referral to the Ambulatory Care Dept.
