"cleanliness a total joke"

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

went with a friend, blood was taken & left on the chair, all over her arm, a drip was put up & the nurse just walked out leaving some one in not only incredible pain but an alarm going, it took 15 mins & asking a number of times for her medication to be given, & for the alarm to be seen to, The Doctors where great, But the overall experience was terrible due to the cleanliness of the whole department, including the room friend was in, the waiting room & the toilets,

Dear HarrietAnne,

On behalf of the Emergency Department Lead Nurse Cath Bartlett would like to apologise to you and your friend for the experience you encountered. It is difficult to identify the nurse who was involved due to the lack of detail but acknowledges that this is absolutely unacceptable and not the standard she would expect from the nursing team in the department. Your comments have been shared with all the nursing staff to ensure lessons are learned and your experience is not repeated.

In regards to the cleanliness of the department; the Matron’s in the Emergency Department monitor this very closely and work in partnership with our Sodexo cleaning providers to strive to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness are achieved and can only apologize if you experienced a less than satisfactory standard. Your comments have been passed to Sodexo to ensure standards of cleanliness are consistently maintained in all areas of the Emergency Department

Once again may we apologise. Should you or your friend wish to discuss your concerns further, then please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk so we will be able to discuss this with you.
