"My emergency op on 5/12/14"

About: Bristol Royal Infirmary

Amazing treatment and service. I had been poorly since Friday with a horrible abscess on my chest wall. On seeing my GP. at 9.30am Monday morning I was told I would need to go into hospital to have an operation to get it sorted. My GP spoke to the on surgical registra . I was advised to go straight to the surgical assessment unit, I arrived on the. unit at 11.10am, There were no beds as the unit was soo busy. You would never have guessed this the nurses and ward assistants were so kind and helpful. The nurse who dealt with me first took all the details and did Iw initial tests. I then saw a lovely lady doctor who agreed I needed to go to theatre she arranged for the surgeon to come and see me followed by the anaesethetist. I was then helped by a lovely student nurse who helped with an ecg and got me a gown. By 2.30pm I walked to theartre was given a GA and everything was sorted, Woke up in recovery . Where i was looked after extremley well. Was transferred by a nurse to the surgical assessment ward by 5pm, I felt so well I asked if I could be discharged that evening. After having something to eat I was discharged at 7pm. Well done BRI you were all amazing. Thank you.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you had such a good experience, and that your abscess has been successfully treated. We will share this with the surgical team, who we're sure will be very encouraged by your comments at this particularly busy time of year. Thanks again.
