"Bolton Royal - Cardiology unit"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I am extremely displeased with my treatment at Bolton Cardiology unit. I did have an event monitor fitted in September 06 and returned it to the Cardiology unit in early October 2006. In that time I was told that teh consultant would see me in three weeks. I was then told to go to my doctors as they had sent a follow up letter. They hadn't, they had sent my initial appointment letter 3 times! I then recieved an appointment for the mid Feburary 2007 which I booked the day off of work for. However, one hour and 30 minutes before my appointment, I was informed that he was off sick. I then had to make a further appointment and the earliest they could give me was the 16th April! I would like to say that I have now been waiting for a consultation for the treatment of my condition for 6 months and I find that uterley disgusting and pity the patients who had to wait longer. There is only supposed to be a three month waiting list.

When I did see the Conslutant he tried to tell me that I should loose weight, even though I am only 7st, 12. I felt he thought I was making it up and did not seem to have read my file.

I would like to thank Dr Graham Lockett of Lever Chambers Orthopaedic clinc.

We apologise for your poor experience and the delays due to cancellation of clinics. The Trust is currently reviewing how it manages follow-up patients in all specialties and we have ensured that your experiences have been forwarded to the Cardiology team.
