"gall bladder removal"

About: Rotherham Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I went into hospital on April 23rd. I had been having pain since before October, on and off, and had been sent for an ultrasound but the results had been returned to the wrong Dr at my surgery and just put in my file. I went back to the Dr on 22nd April as the pain was just too much and becoming more frequent...thats when I was told I had gall stones.

I had to go to A & E as I was in that much pain. The staff right from begining to end were fantastic, those in A & E, B1 and B5 and the surgeon and his team. I would never choose to be in hospital as there are some really poorly people and you actually feel quite well and healthy next to some of them, but I am delighted that my gall bladder has been removed and I am no longer in pain. I was in hospital for longer than I had thought and I believe this was because I was jaundiced and had inflamation of the gall bladder, so I was given antibiotics to calm it all down before the operation. I am still not sure why but after my operation I had a T-Tube draining off the bile from my insides, which I think is not usually the case...it may have been because of the inflamation...I remember the surgeon saying it had been a bit more complicated than expected. Anyway the thing is, everyone was very friendly, and very very busy but always have time for you.

I don't want to go onto hospital again anytime soon...but if I had to and I went to Rotherham General, I feel confident that I would be in safe hands.
