After being involved in an RTA I was taking to Scarborough hospital by paramedics and they were wonderful. I was taken straight into a and e and there was 6 nurses and 2 doctors waiting my arrival. The nursing team and the doctors were fantastic as it was suspected that I had neck injuries. They checked me over to find I did not have any spinal injuries, but ahd fractured my wrist, broke my nose and punctured my left lung. I was tken onto pre surgery ward which I think is off Graham ward. The staff were very helpful in the ward, however, my surgery was postponed because of another mroe serious case than me which I was fine with. I spent the night in a lot of pain but was given regular morphine to help the pain.
The operation took place the enxt day and again the staff and consultant were brillaint. The nruse in recovery was very good as I was feeling off colour after the op and was comfortable with the help she gave me.
I have to admit I was on a ward full of old, very sick men, but I was not bothered by this fact as some people are. All in all i was very impressed with the care and after care I have recieved.
"Me, my motorbike and a stupid driver, yes you can see were this is going."
