"Tameside direct to midwife service"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I have known that about my pregnancy for a few weeks now but whenever I try to make my first appointment, the phone justs rings and rings.

We are advised we do not need to see our GP first but this seems the only way to get an referral appointment. I'm disappointed, other areas in Manchester are a lot easier to make contact with in comparison to Tameside.

Thank you for your posting. I apologise for the problems that you have encountered in trying to make an appointment. We would like to investigate this further, therefore would you please contact Nina Smith the Midwifery Manager by contacting switchboard and ask to be put through to her mobile telephone or contact the Supervisors of Midwives by email on supervisorsofmidwives@tgh.nhs.uk

Thank you again

Director of Nursing

‘’Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing at
