"Faultless service at Harrogate Hospital"

About: Harrogate District Hospital

(as the patient),

I was recently an inpatient at Harrogate Hospital and cannot fault the care I received from everyone involved in my treatment.

I was very impressed that my first outpatient appointment was held in my home town, which was convenient as it saved me travelling the 20 miles to Harrogate for a half hour appointment.

My pre-assessment appointment at the hospital was thorough, (and on time) and the nurses made me feel as though I could ask them anything about my operation, regardless of how daft it sounded! Their communication skills were excellent and I left feeling re-assured and comfortable with the operation ahead.

I was treated on the day case unit with an over-night stay on the Nidderdale ward. Both areas were very clean and well kept; both also had a friendly atmosphere among staff and patients.

Everyone, including nurses, domestic staff, the medical clerk, anaesthetist, surgeon, Patientline man and support workers, etc. were very kind and considerate during my stay. I'd particularly like to thank nurse "Paul" from the day case unit who was fantastic and looked after me very well, especially as it was my first general anaesthetic and I didn't quite know what to expect.

The NHS often gets criticised in the papers (most of the stories being devoid of any true facts) but I, for one, have had a very positive experience and I'd like to say thank you to all who looked after me during my treatment.

Many Thanks
