"Tooth abscess"

About: Birmingham Dental Hospital

Hi all I was dying of serious pain from a tooth abscess for 2 days, unfortunate for me the pain was during New Year's Day so the hospital was shut but the next day when I went I had waited until from 7am to 12pm for any treatment to start, the staff were great apart from the dentist who started the treatment, they did an Xray n clearly seen that I had an abscess under 3 bottom front teeth but the dentist only did a temporary treatment for 1 tooth, which completely baffled me since I was in severe pain, the dentist said that they didn't want to do the other two because of bacteria but when I asked them about doing the treatment from my local dentist on the same day if they are available the dentist said yes that would be fine! How pathetic is that!

I am sorry you have been left with a poor impression of Birmingham Dental Hospital following your recent visit. I would welcome the opportunity to look into the concerns you have raised. In order to do so, I need to know your hospital number or other details (such as name, address and date of birth), and would therefore prefer to speak with you if possible to obtain this information. Please telephone Alison Last, Associate Director of Patient Experience on 0121 466 7128 or email alison.last@bhamcommunity.nhs.uk; I look forward to receiving your call or email. In the meantime I am able to respond to your comment that the Dental Hospital was closed on New Year's Day. An Out of Hours Dental Service was open to patients on the morning of New Year's Day, via the NHS 111 telephone number. I am sorry if you were not aware of this service and that you therefore waited until the next day to see a dentist. I hope you are now receiving ongoing treatment from your local dentist as you have indicated in your feedback.
