I was referred for an appointment at the Golden Jubilee hospital after a long wait for surgery (which I am fine about - carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms had been there for 10 years and I only went to GP about it earlier in 2014). I called the appointment booking line and spoke with one of the nicest admin workers I have ever come accross - he sounded so happy, cheerful, helpful and humble (Paul Brown) he really cheered my day up! I chose an appointment that suited me best and all, was confirmed in writing.
My surgery was in November. We drove to the hospital the day before and stayed in the Golden Jubilee hotel, then walked to the day surgery unit the next morning. I was taken in on time and was put into a private cubicle to wait for the op where the nurses also gave me a light breakfast. I was the first on the list and was operated on at 9am sharp.
All the nurses at each stage were absolutely lovely, particularly the young nurse who sat beside me and kept me talking throughout the surgery (local anaesthetic). My consultant was great too - talking me through what was going on and being very kind and gentle.
I was back on the recovery ward by quarter to 10 and offered tea and toast and my husband came to collect me at 10. 30. Our hospital stay and mileage are covered by the NHS as we live so far from the hospital.
I am extremely grateful for the service and all the staff who work to provide such top quality care, including the admins, cleaners, auxiliaries, nurses and consultants. Thank you.
"Lovely nurses and consultant who looked after me during hand surgery"
