"Opthamology Dept - Terrible service"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

My brother has required urgent help, unable to see out of one eye for past eight weeks. Unable to drive and on statutory sick pay. This dept has been unable to diagnose, given treatment which has not worked, several times. A doctor has been rude and unhelpful. No thorough investigation has been completed to date. Poor advice given re: access to services. Waiting times three hours plus with an appointment. Passed back and fourth from Pilgrim to Lincoln. No services available at weekend that can help. No answer phone in dept with emergency numbers. Doctor's refusal to contact patient direct regarding symtoms. Disgraceful service, I'm an NHS manager myself and I'm embarrassed by this treatment.

Dear Anon

I would like to apologise to you for the terrible service.

I would like to opportunity to speak to you personally as I feel I would be able to help you. My direct number is 01205 445626.

The service alternates between Pilgrim and Lincoln on a weekly basis to provide cross county on-call cover. There are no emergency numbers as there is no 24hour provision of cover outside of A&E.
