"Staff not using the hand gel in Hull"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

During my niece's stay in HRI, she was taken down for an operation, so her mum and I sat outside the High Dependency Unit and not one NHS staff member (nurses, doctors, consultants, porters etc) used the hand cleaning gel when entering or leaving the ward.

The visitors for the unit all used the gel.

Also no staff used the gel on the ward itself. They promote infection control and good hygeine etc but they don't practice it themselves. This is why diseases and MRSA infections are spread, not through visitors but through hospitals' own staff.

You don’t need any special skills or experience to become a member, you just need an interest in local health services. There is no commitment, you can get involved as much or as little as you choose. For more information please either by email or telephone 01482 675165. Thank you once again for taking the time to provide us with your views on local services.
