"Great care but bad food at Tameside General Hospital - Ward 41"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Respiratory medicine

(as the patient),

All the staff at Ward 41 were wonderful, especially the nurses in treating my breathing and chest problems. I was called by my christian name and treated like a friend instead of a patient. I was never treated badly.

The only meal I had was spaghetti and it was cold and unappetising and a salad which did not contain any vegetables except one tomato slice, so food was definetly a problem and the toast was wafer thin.

Thank you for your comments about your stay on ward 41 earlier this year. I was delighted to read that you found the staff wonderful, especially the nurses. I was sorry to read that you were unhappy about the meals you had, as surveys of patient opinion suggest that the food at this hospital is generally of a high standard. Your positive comments have been shared with the nursing staff concerned, and I am sure they will be greatly appreciated. I have also raised your comments about the food with the hospital’s catering manager. Patient nutrition is very important to the hospital, and we would urge anyone who is unhappy with the food to raise the matter with the nurse in charge of the area concerned, so it can be resolved immediately.

I am sorry not to have responded sooner. However, Tameside General Hospital has only recently obtained the facility to reply to comments made on this website.
