"Laser Treatment"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

On Monday 3rd June 2013 at 10am, the doctor administered laser treatment to fix the hole in the retina of my left eye (diagnosed by the doctor at John Coupland Hospital Gainsborough). The lady who usually does this procedure was on holiday so I was very relieved when the doctor kindly agreed to do this so that the trainee doctor did not have to! As you can well imagine, the thought of having laser treatment to your eye is traumatic- and I was petrified. The doctor was confident, easy-going and calm, with a good sense of humour so that I instantly felt reassured and in safe hands. He did a fantastic job and that eye is fine - in fact I consider that my eyesight (short-sighted) improved slightly since that laser treatment. I returned to A & E at Lincoln Hospital on 27th December 2014 with similar problems in my other eye, suspecting that a posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) may have caused a hole in my right retina. An appointment was made for a check-up on Digby Ward the following morning. Again, the lady doctor was very efficient and competent, so that the check up was over with quickly and painlessly. It was a PVD, but fortunately no damage to the retina was evident. The skill and service in this department is fantastic and a credit to the NHS. Thank you very much indeed.
