"Recent stay on Mersea Ward."

About: Colchester General Hospital

I recently attended a&e and was subsequently admitted to Mersea Ward and discharged yesterday. The care I received was outstanding from everyone. There was a very confused patient in the bed next to me and the nurses demonstrated a huge amount of dignity and respect which I was very impressed by.The staff working at the hospital often get poor feedback regarding their lack of care and compassion.I saw no such thing and am very appreciative of the hard work they put in under challenging circumstances.Perhaps the media especially the gazette should look at the bigger picture and start reporting some positive feedback from patients which I am sure there is plenty of.Although things do go wrong at the hospital (such is life) I believe that this is generally due to the huge amount of pressure the service is under in relation to government cuts.

Many thanks for your comments and taking the time to submit them. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. We have a quarterly At Our Best Awards scheme which recognises staff achievements and thanks them for what they do. It has a team category, an individual and a volunteer category. Could you also email the Colchester Gazette and ask them to publish a letter? Email is: gazette.letters@nqe.com You could enter the team/the person you were kind enough to write in about, by clicking here! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/At_Our_Best_Awards Also, could you email me, using the reference “+ve Comment on Urology AT 29/12/2014 17:25:21”, please so we can pass on your good wishes? Many thanks Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
