"attending A and E and poor staff response to patient"

About: Royal Gwent Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

My son, 25 years was suddenly taken ill. Temp of 40 eye pain, neck pain, feeling sick. Out of hours service was contacted and he was advised to attend A and E. Suspected meningitis. He attended as instructed by GP. After a 2 hour wait he was triaged at rgh and told off by the nurse for attending A and E.

He felt bad enough as it was, without a lecture from an uncaring, unsympathetic health professional.

please get your service and information systems right....this is disgraceful.

Is a nurse able to challenge a GP in such a way.

Should a nurse have the right to chastise a patient in this way?

We then had a wait of 6 hours to see on call services, they were fab. Tests done and prescription issued.
