"Neurology outpatients"

About: Kettering General Hospital

Following an emergency admission to A & E with head pains I was referred for an MRI scan and outpatients neurology. The latter came through for the 21/11/14 and the MRI scan is due on the 30/12/14. I attended the o/p clinic anyway. My appointment was 3.30pm and at 4.25 I still hadn't been called in so I checked with reception and was called shortly after. The female doctor I saw had no idea why I was there, the computer on the desk was not working and she had no access to paper records, blood test results or my CT scan. She therefore had to bluff her way through the consultation from what I was telling her. Her only recommendation was an MRI scan which is what I am waiting for and had already been referred for. The whole appointment was completely pointless and a waste of my time. Surely two departments can liaise to get the appointments in the right order. Previous to this my experience in A & E had been excellent and I could not fault the care and attention I received there so this was a real disappointment. I hope my follow up apt after my scan is more productive.
