About: New Cross Hospital / General medicine Russells Hall Hospital / General medicine Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

On recent occasions both my wife and I have been referred to Russels Hall, Dudley, New Cross, Wolverhampton and outpatients clinic, Stourbridge. Whilst there referrals were quick, the clinicians are unable to view your results, notes etc... online, which leads to wasted time and frustration!

Until online access is available, I feel referrals to these locations should be reconsidered.

Thank you for your comments regarding your Choice to attend a hospital outside the local area for an earlier appointment.

TRAQS offer patients the earliest appointment within a 40 mile radius. Some patients do elect to be seen sooner at a hospital outside their local area, as you and your wife did. Although this means that you will be seen sooner it does mean that not all of a patients records will be available if you have been treated for the same condition elsewhere.

Unfortunately, although the NHS is working towards sharing patients records electronically this is not yet available.

Patients are offered Choice in line with their legal rights within the NHS Constitution and although the TRAQS team offer informed Choice to all patients the final decision where to attend for treatment is made by the patient or parent/guardian.
