I recently underwent a surgical procedure at this Hospital and can honestly say it was one of the worst experiences of my life. My procedure was funded through private medical insurance and I expected a high standard, how wrong I was. The room I was in on Chester Ward was dated with cracked flooring and moldy tiles, a breading ground for bacteria. The ward was very short staffed with only 3 nurses (including HCA's) on duty on my first night with a ward full of post op patients. The nurses tried extremely hard to cope but as you can imagine it was a looseing battle, this resulted in waiting for pain relief longer than would have been clinically appropriate. The follwing day after my procedure I was desperate to get out of this place and a nurse on duty added to the fact by never once calling me by my name but called me "lovey" continuously. Then the same nurse spoke to me in such a manner I nearly cried. I feel this nurse made me feel like a child and quite frightened. The theatre staff are amazing and a real credit. I feel some people should never have entered the nursing profession and as a nurse with over twenty years experience I am qualified to make that statement.
"Never again. Animals are treated better."
